9 “Stormin” Ron Norman
Stormin Ron Norman began his racing career in 1993 while working at Tucson Raceway Park printing race programs and other promotional materials. He built his first race car in his back yard and hit the track for the first time in April 1996 in a 1974 Camaro competing in the Pro-Stock division. Ron was awarded the NASCAR Late Model Rookie-of-the-Year Award in 1999 and Sportsman-of-the-Year Award in 2000. Over his racing career, Ron has amassed 9 NASCAR Championships including 105 race wins and an unprecedented 156 top-five finishes.
In addition to his NASCAR racing career, Ron has competed in the ASA Midwest Tour, and ARCA. He was selected as a southwest regional competitor in the highly touted Toyota All Star Showdown in Irwindale, California and was selected to compete in the “Championship between the Continents” at Phakisa Raceway in South Africa.
Zane was introduced to racing at a young age, competing in the “Big Wheel” division at Tucson Dragway at the age of 3. A few years later, Zane was give the opportunity to drive a quarter midget at Tucson Quarter Midget Association(TQMA).
In 5 years, Zane won 6 track championships in 3 different classes, won the Route 66 Summer Nationals, and placed 3rd at the Silver State Winter Nationals. Along with these achievements Zane was also elected as TQMA’s Driver and Sportsman of the year in 2012.
Fast forward to 2019, Zane received another opportunity to drive a Thunder Truck at Tucson Speedway. In the 5 years of competing in the Thunder Truck Zane has 38 top 5’s and 6 wins. In his second full season Zane was able to clinch the Tucson Speedway Track Championship.
Zane would like to grow and evolve as an all around racer with the guidance and mentorship of the Vision West Motorsports team. Zane believes contending for wins and a Track Championship in the Super Late Model division at Tucson Speedway is achievable with the support of Vision West Motorsports.
